Intimidated Sleep

Sleep fears me:
If only it knew I spite it not
If only it knew my eyes don't loathe it
If only it knew my mind poses no harm for it to abide by
If only it knew my soul's tired, not famished
If only it knew I myself don't trust my heart -- for, its desires are conniving
If only it knew I seek it not once
every mortal second
If only it knew, but, I seek it only
once to decease
If only it knew my soul longs to
break these constraining shackles
If only it knew, then,
its woes, too, would end
If only it knew the virtues,
then, a soul would gain.
