Homeland Season 4: Islamabad - A Hellhole?

"Homeland hellhole Pakistan"
The latest season of Showtime's popular TV show - Homeland - has infuriated many a Pakistanis, including government officials. The reason?

Pakistanis are complaining that the show didn't do well in portraying the image of Pakistan, in fact, the show insinuated that the capital of Pakistan - Islamabad -- is a rotten, downtrodden city, full of terrorists. Being a Pakistani myself, I'd agree with my fellow citizens that this indeed is a misrepresentation of the capital of my country. On the contrary to what "Homeland" suggested, my country's capital is one of the safest cities of Pakistan. Homeland, in this regard, has done well to mar the beautiful capital's image.

The second most notable outrage is about Homeland's casting of Pakistani characters -- mostly played by Indians and Middle Eastern actors. The question of most of us is: why couldn't they hire Pakistani actors to play Pakistani roles?

Well, my fellow citizens, no Pakistani would have accepted to play a role in a show which was going to mar the image of their country. There might be some exceptions -- actors who'd agree to do just about anything for a few bucks but not all of them can be bought. So, there is your answer.

Now, coming back to the uproar - in my opinion -- where the show lacked the decency to portray the RIGHT image of a democratic country, it wasn't all that biased when it came to its own, and by OWN I mean, they didn't fall short of a dime when they showed us how their ultimate spy agency: THE CIA, is involved in making secret deals with the Taliban/Haqqani network behind its black veil.
So, calm down people because in the end it's an American show and we all know how they work, right? ;)

So, keep calm and just enjoy TV as you normally would. Happy Holidays people!
